Major Hodges was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the pilot of a F-51D Mustang night fighter with Headquarters Squadron, 35th Fighter-Interceptor Group, 35th Fighter-Interceptor Wing. On December 6, 1950,while on a combat mission of dropping napalm at a low level, his aircraft crashed into the ground near Opari (near Seoul, Korea). He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
