Seaman Finch was a crew member of the destroyer, "USS CHARLES S. PERRY" (DD-697), enroute to Korea. A typhoon hit the ship as it was about 300 miles from Korea. On October 5, 1950, as Seaman Finch was leaving his watch, a forty foot wave swept him overboard to his death. |
