Lieutenant Workman was the pilot of an AD-3 Skyraider dive bomber with Fighter Squadron, aboard carrier USS VALLEY FORGE (CV-45). On April 20, 1952, while on a combat mission over Wonsan, North Korea, his aircraft was struck by small arms fire and caught fire. He bailed out but his parachute failed to open. |
