Lieutenant Brainard was the pilot of a F9F-2 Panther Jet fighter with Fighter Squadron 837 aboard the USS ANTIETAM (CV-36). On November 4, 1951, on landing his aircraft jumped through the barriers and crashed into parked aircraft. Four crew members were killed. |
