Seaman (E2) Oesterwind served aboard the battleship USS NEW JERSEY (BB-62). On May 20, 1951, the ship was hit by a shore battery at Wonsan, North Korea causing slight damage but resulted in four casualties. He died of a shrapnel wound penetrating left chest the following day. |
