Sergeant First Class Deal was a member of the 8th Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on September 2, 1950 and returned to duty later that day. He was reassigned to Company F, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division and was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy near Seoul, South Korea on September 20, 1950. |
