Sergeant First Class McGarrity was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Battery A, 196th Field Artillery Battalion, X Corps. He was driving in a convoy on a dusty road and accidentally rammed the vehicle ahead of him. He was taken to the 4th Field Hospital at Taegu, South Korea where he died on March 3, 1951. |
