Sergeant Rowe was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on November 25, 1950 and died while a prisoner on January 20, 1951. His remains were not recovered at the time. In May 2005 the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (a predecessor to DPAA) Central Identification laboratory received and accessioned recovered remains from a site south of the Pukchin-Tarigol POW Camp Cluster. In 2017, he was identified using DNA analysis and circumstantial evidence. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
