Colonel Martin was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was placed in command of the 34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division on July 7, 1950. The following day, he was Killed while directing the delay of the North Korean advance near Chonan, South Korea. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. |
