Airman Second Class Rohde was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

Airman Second Class Rohde was a member of the U.S. Air Force assigned to a unit in England. While on furlough, he underwent an emergency appendectomy, where it was discovered he suffered from leukemia. On January 2, 1953 he was transferred to the Great Lakes Hospital where he died on January 11, 1953.
