Staff Sergeant Nidds was a member of Company B, 3rd Battalion, 82nd Artillery Regiment, 196th Light Infantry Brigade. On April 21, 1967, he was returning from a patrol in a sampan when it was taken over by the enemy. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
