Lieutenant Colonel Morgan was a member of the 612nd Tactical Fighter Squadron. On January 26, 1967, he was the pilot of a North American Super Sabre Fighter (F-100D) on a strike mission over a target in South Vietnam, when his aircraft was hit by hostile fire and exploded before striking the ground. His remains were recovered on March 5, 1996 and identified on June 27, 1997. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
