On December 7, 1941, the battleship USS Oklahoma was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor when attacked by Japanese forces. The USS Oklahoma was hit by multiple torpedoes and capsized. F3C Lindsley one of 429 sailors and Marines lost on that day. His remains were among one of those unidentifiable who was interred at an Unknown at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, HI. In 2015, the Department of Defense authorized the disinterment of the Unknowns of the USS Oklahoma buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Using modern day forensic science, F3C Lindsley's remains were identified. His name is permanently inscribed at the WWII Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial at the cemetery.
