Captain Klingner was a member of the 306th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On April 6, 1970, he was the pilot of a North American Super Sabre Fighter (F-100D) on a mission over Laos, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
