John Kelly was born in Pennsylvania on September 10, 1881. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was promoted to Staff Sergeant. He served during World War I. After retirement, he remained in Panama. He died on October 13, 1940 at Gorgas Hospital and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
