Warrant Officer Keepers was an 86 year old American born in Millbrook, New Jersey. He served in the Navy during the Spanish-American War, World War I and World War II. Upon retirement from the service, he worked as an electrician for the Panama Canal Company. He retired from the Panama Canal Company and continued to live in the Canal Zone. In 1969, he became ill and was evacuated to St. Petersburg, Florida for medical treatment. On January 15, 1969 he died at 4520 1 Avenue South, Saint Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida. He was cremated and his ashes were initially lost by the funeral home. His ashes were finally recovered and he was buried on May 3, 2012 at the Corozal American Cemetery.
