Master Sergeant Jones was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War, he was a member of the 62nd Troop Carrier Group, 62nd Troop Carrier Wing. On December 20, 1952, He was a passenger aboard a C-124 Globemaster transport departing Larson Air Force Base, Grant, Washington. The aircraft crashed on takeoff. Ninety personnel on board perished.
