Captain Huard was a member of the 433rd Tactical Fighter Squadron, Ubon Airfield, Thailand. On July 12, 1972, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4E) on a mission over North Vietnam, when contact was lost and the aircraft crashed into a reservoir. His remains were recovered on December 15, 1988 and identified on January 17, 1997. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
