Chief Warrant Officer, Third Class Gunn was a member of the 50th Medical Detachment, 44 Medical Brigade. On February 12, 1968, he was the pilot of a Bell Iroquois Utility Helicopter (UH-1H) dispatched on a night medical evacuation from Ban Me Thuot to Gia Nghai Special Forces Camp in South Vietnam. Contact was lost and he was declared Missing in Action. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
