Lieutenant Junior Grade Deane was a crew member of a Martin P4M-1Q Mercator surveillance aircraft with the U.S. Navy. On August 22, 1956, while patrolling the airspace during the Korean truce, his aircraft was shot down. His remains have not been recovered.
