Major Condit was a member of the 390th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Da Nang Air Base, South Vietnam. On November 26, 1967, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4C) on a mission 12 miles from Ban Karai Pass, Quang Binh Province, North Vietnam, when his aircraft was shot down. His remains were recovered on June 1, 1992 and identified on January 4, 1993. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
