Specialist Caver was a member of Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was a member of a security force protecting a group of workers in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). His jeep was ambushed by North Korean infiltrators on September 27, 1968.
