Staff Sergeant Bunick was a crew member of a patrol bomber, P2V-3 Neptune, from Patrol Squadron 10 (VP-10). On January 5, 1952 during bad weather, his aircraft undershot a hot landing and crashed into a USAF C-47 at U.S. Air Force Base Burtonwood, England.
